CBS Sunday Morning

April 26th, 2020

CBS Sunday Morning

Recently I submitted several images of "Suns" to CBS Sunday Morning. To my surprise, I received an email from Jennifer Frank, Associate Director/Sun Coordinator for CBS Sunday Morning. She had selected one of my images to appear on the February 10, 2019 show. It was shown at the end of a Spike Lee interview. Even though it is shown for only 2 seconds, it was an honor to have it chosen. Please see the attached copy of the email I received from Mrs. Frank.
I now have 4 images that have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, with another coming soon, I hope. I will update this blog soon, with all the names of the episodes.

Mind Journey II, By Visual Artist Frank Bonilla, October 17, 2015

October 2nd, 2017

I was contacted the curator for the Newark Museum in Newark, New Jersey, for permission to use a couple of videos of my digital abstract art, for art films they would be showing on October 17th, 2015. The name of the event was the Festival Of Light & Color. There were other films, by other artists also.
I created Mind Journey II specifically for them. They also showed my video Kaleoscope #2 in the show.
Below is the a description of the show:

If you are an artist, you too can buy a .art domain for under $20 per year. If you would like a .art name, and would like more information, please feel free to contact me.

Developing Multiple Talents

Developing Multiple Talents

This was my first image to be actually used by someone else. Writer Douglas Eby used my image, "Digital Color Wheel", for his paperback titled Developing Multiple Talents, the personal side of creative expression. It was written in 2011, and is available on Ebay, and Amazon, as a paperback. There is also Kindle edition available. The paperback edition runs $10-12. Click below to see the paperback edition on Amazon. Thanks for viewing.

Computer Graphics Magazine

April 10th, 2017

Computer Graphics Magazine

My art was recently chosen to be on the cover of Computer.org.cga. Computer.org is the magazine of the IEEE. The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 420,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe.
Not only was my art chosen for the cover, an article was also written about me, and my art.
The article was written by Gary Singh, from San Jose, California. He viewed my art on Flickr, and here. He then recommended to the board of the IEEE, that my art be used for the cover, and article. This is not a magazine you buy at the local bookstore. It is for members of the IEEE, who are all professionals. I couldn't link the whole article to this site. However, if you click on the link below, you can at least see the title of the article. It is Without A Plan. It refers to how I create my. It is spontaneous, and by the moment.
This was quite an honor to have my art chosen for this worldwide publication. Thank you, Mr. Singh.
This was an honor beyond belief.

Tornado From Above

Tornado From Above

My image "Tornado From Above" is a black and white image I created digitally, and looks somewhat like a tornado. I was contacted by a curator from Kalisher.com . They supply art to hotels, and other companies. They paid me for the right to use my image to decorate the Renaissance Waterford Oklahoma City Hotel, of course in Oklahoma. They used my image as a wall mural in 192 of their rooms! You can see one view of my art in the image to the left. The money was not even important. That idea of my art on all the walls of all those rooms is very exciting, and uplifting. I know I am very lucky to have my art chosen.
If you scroll thru the photos section of the link above, you can see other images of my art at the hotel.
